With the Halloween weekend upon us, I have been busy updating the Hollywood Gothique website, making sure all the information you need is at your fingertips. Much of this is simple re-organization, but there is some new information, too.

The rather vaguely titled “Other Halloween Haunts” page has morphed into Halloween Parties & Street Fairs, which you can access here. The previous version of the page was a bit of a jumble, including harvest festivals, plays, and other activities more family-friendly, which didn’t sit well on a page mostly occupied by adult parties.

Planning your Halloween Weekend? Wondering What to do with these final days of October? Looking for something new and different? With the opening of the Theatre 68 Haunted House this past Friday, all of Los Angeles’s professional Halloween haunts are in full swing, leaving the Halloween yard haunts to dominate the concluding weekend of October, along with various horror movie screenings. Here is a rundown of Halloween events and attractions opening around Los Angeles this weekend.

A vast variety of Halloween events are opening in Los Angeles on the weekend of Friday, October 5, 2010, and if you don’t start now you are likely to miss much of hauntingly horrible fun. Hence, we have gathered together in one convenient place, a list of exciting attractions now available to you, including Reign of Terror, Heritage Haunt, Nightmare at Scareview Farms, 13 Nights of Terror, Haunted Midnights, the 4th Annual Haunted Hollywood Scavenger Hunt, and many more! If haunted houses aren’t your bag of bones, you can check out the opening of the Horrorwood Art Exhibition, visit Creation’s Weekend of Horrors or the final weekend of Screamfest, or attend the last two performances of Dracula at the Westcherster Playhouse. Last night, the Comedy Store offered up the debut of a new attraction for Halloween 2010: Haunted Midnights, a combination of video, live performance, and a nocturnal tour of the premises. This is not a standard Halloween attraction, with a maze and monsters. The pitch is that the Comedy Store is one of the most authentically haunted locations in Los Angeles, at least in part due to its association, decades ago, with some high-profile organized crime figures, who may have rubbed out the occasional victim on the premises; the evening promises seances, paranormal research, haunted tales, and proof. Skeptics will not be surprised to learn that you do not receive the last item, nor is there a seance. Nevertheless, Haunted Midnights turns out to be a fun and fascinating piece of late-night entertainment that (if all goes well) promises to become a traditional Halloween event for years to come.
