Description: Just in time for the Christmas season, the American Cinematheque presents a screening of Frank Capra’s 1946 holiday classic. IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE balances pathos and joy in the tale of distraught George Bailey (James Stewart at his finest), who is about to commit suicide on Christmas Eve – until helpful, elderly angel Clarence (Henry Travers) shows him how his death would affect those around him. Featuring Donna Reed as the love of George’s life in the role that launched her to stardom, and a young, charming Gloria Grahame.
