The Thing (1982) at Nuart

John Carpenter’s remake of the Howard Hawks classic screens at midnight. It was a financial flop in 1982, but it has developed a cult reputation since then. Rob Bottin’s elaborate special effects work to create the morphing monsters (which takes on the appearance of its victims) is a stand-out.
