Supergirl (1984) – Trailer

As part of  ZAP! POW! BAM! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938–1950, the Skirball Cultural Center presents this free screening of the 1984 big screen debut of the mighty Girl of Steel! A box office bomb in its day, SUPERGIRL benefits from an enjoyable performance by Helen Slater in the title role, with great, campy supporting turns by Faye Dunaway as the evil villain and Peter Cooke as her henchmen (he somehow makes the ridiculous line “The Burundi Wand – pure, unadulterated evil” sound like an intentional joke, not just bad writing). Directed by Jeannot Szwarc. (1984, 105 min. Rated PG.)

Location: Skirball Cultural Center 2701 North Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90049 Tel: (310) 440-4500
