Monsterpalooza: The Art of Monsters – This Weekend

This weekend, a three-day tribute to monster movie makeup men and artists arrives at the Marriott Hotel and Convention Center in Burbank. The guest list and tributes feature a good mix of classic and contemporary – everything from FRANKENSTEIN and THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON to HELLBOY and Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN.

Events include a pre-show at 4:00pm on Friday (separate admission); a tribute to makeup artist John Chambers (Planet of the Apes, 1968), a tribute to Jack Pierce (who created the original Frankenstein makeup for Boris Karloff in 1931), a tribute to the Westmore family of makeup artists; plus live music and performances on Saturday night (separate admission).

Guests include Vern Langdon (co-owner of the Don Post Studios, famous for monster masks), Jim Warren (publisher of Famous Monsters), Tom Woodruff Jr and Alec Gillis (make up on AVP), FX artst Tom Burman, KNF effects artist Howard Berger, artist Basil Gogos, actor Sid Haig, actor Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth), actress Danielle Harris (Halloween 4, 5 and Rob Zombie’s Halloween), the Chaney family, actress Julie Adams (Creature from the Black Lagoon), Walter Phelan, Lou Wagner, Marshall Bell, Eileen Dietz, James Duval, John Fasano, Leslie Easterbrook, Leslie Hoffman, Chris Durand, Camden Toy, Tom Morga, Brinke Stevens, Michael Berryman, Jeffrey Jones, John Alexander, Lucy Chase Williams, Tony and Moran.

Tickets are $30 for the Friday pre-show; $20 per day; $50 for weekend pass; and $15 for the Saturday evening music.
