Miyazaki’s Ponyo to close L.A. Film Fest

Variety reports that PONYO, the new animated film from Hayao Miyazai will be the closing night feature for this year’s L.A. Film Festival. The screening will be on June 28 at 6:30pm in the Mann Village Theatre.

Hayao Miyazaki’s “Ponyo,” inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale “The Little Mermaid,” features the voices of Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Cloris Leachman, Liam Neeson, Lily Tomlin, Betty White and Frankie Jonas. The movie opens Aug. 14.

The festival opens June 18 and includes 70 features, 70 shorts, and 50 music videos.
