In Person: Sara Karloff, Bela Lugosi Jr & More

Sara Karloff (daughter of Boris Karloff, who played the Frankenstein Monster) and Bela Lugosi Jr (son of Bela Lugosi, who played Dracula) will be among the guests at this weekend’s Famous Monsters of Filmland Returns series , in which the American Cinematheque celebrates the return of the world’s first monster movie magazine by screening a quartet of classic horror films from the 1930s and 1940s.

Description: This double bill of classic Universal horror films screens as part of a tribute to the re-launching of Famous Monsters of Filmsland, the world’s first monster movie magainze, which has been in limbo for many years. SON OF FRANKENSTEIN will be introduced by Sara Karloff, whose father Boris plays the monster in the film. GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN will be introduced by actress Janet Ann Gallow.
