This week, the New Bevelry Cinema is presenting a series of double bills selected by screenwriter Josh Olson (A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE). The pair you do not want to miss are THE NINTH CONFIGURATION and THE EXORCIST III, which screen on Friday and Saturday. Both are directed by William Peter Blatty, whose novel The Exorcist was turned into the greatest horror film of all time by director William Friedkin.

NINTH CONFIGURATION, though not a horror film, deals with themes introduced in THE EXORCIST, asking how we can believe in God in a world where evil exists.

THE EXORCIST III is largely forgotten as just another sequel, but it is actually a great film in its own right – no match for the original but light years ahead of John Boorman’s mis-handled THE EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC.

The double bill starts at 7:30pm on Friday; screenings start at 3:00pm on Saturday. Olson will answer questions from the audience afterwards.
